Kristiansund, Norway The great Norwegian seafaring tradition is alive and well in Kristiansund, with its resident fleet of trawlers and a population of 18,000 still living on the riches of the sea. So it has long been in Kristiansund: scientists have unearthed ruins that date back almost 10,000 years. The town was heavily damaged during WWII, and is now a bright, modern community with characteristic Scandinavian order and industriousness.
