Rabaul is a thriving harbor on the verdant island of New Britain, part of the vast network of islands within Papua, New Guinea.  The town is encircled by volcanoes (some still active) with names from the local mythology—The Mother, North and South Daughters, Vulcan Crater—and ringed with lush cocoa, copra and coconut oil plantations.
